Abstract
Acute erythroid leukemias are acute leukemias that are characterized by a predominant erythroid population. Two subtypes, M6a (erythroid/myeloid) and M6b (pure erythroid leukemia) are recognized based on the presence or absence of a significant myeloid component by WHO classification. M6a is a predominant type of adults. It comprises 3% of cases of AML. M6b is extremely rare and can occur at any age. We describe two cases of M6a and one case of M6b diagnosed by morphology and cytochemistry.
